This three-year archeological and ethnographic field project investigates how oral traditions, documented histories, and the material remains of pre-Angkorian civilization inform and shape each other in living landscapes, thanks to a grant over $125,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities.

Engaged research is at the frontier of social science methodologies. We co-produce knowledge, advancing scientific findings through the intimate knowledge of people living in the research landscape who guide the process of data collection and analysis. We map potent places in the forest and enrich the lives of research participants at its center.
